What a classic! This 5th generation iPod Video was the last to offer the Wolfson audio DAC. Audiophiles rate these as having the best sound quality of all the iPods.
This iPod has been refurbished with all new covers and a new battery. It has a thin version gold back.
The front cover is a 6th generation version made of aluminum rather than the plastic cover for the 5th gen. These covers are more scratch resistant and still has all the Wolfson goodness on the inside. The best of both worlds!
The Hard drive has been replaced with an upgrade using a quad iFlash adapter card.
This solid state upgrade gives lighter weight, more storage, longer battery life, and more speed and reliability than the original mechanical hard drive. The SD cards were tested and passed H2testW. This iPod also includes a new 3000mAh battery for maximum run time.
The logic board used in this iPod is a 60GB board which has 64MB of RAM. This will provide iTunes with the ability to handle about 50,000 song titles depending upon your library. There is also a song queue limit in iTunes of about 30,000 songs. If your music library is larger than 30,000 titles, then it will need to be split into a number of playlists of less than this limit. You would then select from the playlists rather than from the main music menu that has over 30,000 songs. You can still shuffle an entire playlist of 30,000 songs. These limitations can be eliminated by replacing the iTunes operating system with a third party program like Rockbox.
