BUDGERIGAR, Formia Murano Glass Bird For Hamilton Exotic Birds Of The World 1984

Description

This hand made Murano glass budgerigar bird was made by Formia for The Hamilton Collection Exotic Birds of the World, a limited edition of 7500. The series, composed of 8 different birds, was launched in 1984. This bird is approximately 10.25 inches tall (the heights of the 8 birds vary, presumably based on the natural relative sizes of the birds as well as normal variations in hand made glass). Both the Formia label and a Made in Murano label are still attached-see last photo. The bird is in excellent used condition-no chips, cracks, or scratches (almost no wear even on the base). There is a very tiny area of roughness under the bird’s chin which, under high magnification, is a few specks of ash from the glass making process. They are not visible at all. Even under high magnification, I had to twist and turn to even find the area. Both ash particles and some tiny air bubbles are found in almost all Murano art glass.
There is also some roughness on the edge of the curl of clear glass underneath the bird. Once again, this is normal; it is where the glass blower sheared off the glass during production. It too is not visible.
