    Description

Original early 20th Century Bronze Porthole Battle Cover.
Came from a Northwest Pennsylvania WW2 Veteran Naval Officer's Estate.
Unsure of the ship that it came from.
Unfortunately, he had passed away, and the port hole cover wasn't marked with any history or documentation.
Marked "ROSTAND", measures 13 & 1/2" in diameter to rim, 1 &1/8" thick.
    12 & 15/16" Center-to-Center of the Gasket Sealing Ring.
    Inside flange measurement is 12 & 11/16".
15 & 1/8" Center-to Center across two of the tightening flanges.
Hinge Pin area measures 1 & 1/8" inside to inside.
Hinge Pin Hole is 7/16" in diameter.
Center of Hinge Pin Hole set back 3/8" from the outer face of the cover plate.
Hinge Pin Hole is 3/4" offset from the face of the flanges.
The Distance from the outer edge to the center of the hole is 1 & 1/16".
Heavy piece, weighs almost 14 lbs!
You occasionally see a complete porthole with cover.
You almost NEVER See a cover offered for sale by itself!
