Matched Set of 4 WILCOX CRITTENDEN OVAL 5X9 Brass Portholes
in good marine salvaged shape as pictured.
In 1928 the
WILCOX OVAL 5X9
was advertised in yachting magazines:
"No more close, stuffy fo'c'sles. No more wet or soggy cabins after the 'big blow'. Even low trunk cabin schooners and cruisers can have three times the light and air space of a 5 inch round port by using the new

".
All portholes manufacturer marked with the
Wilcox Crittenden
Monogram cast into the flange as pictured.
Portholes ideal for a classic boat restoration. They mount via 8 bolts and 3 even include their retaining flanges for bulkhead mounting and return to service.
Overall dimensions:
Length 12-1/4" X Width 8-1/4" X Depth 3".
The port glass view size is: Length 9" X Width 5".
Glass is fine for 3, just some minor scuffs; but no cracks or chips. 4th porthole glass is broken. All portholes retain remnants of marine paint as salvaged, but would readily clean up. Hinges and dogs are stiff from old paint; and should flex more once paint stripped. Brass good, natural patina with few minor usage scuffs should polish out if desired.

Porthole 1:
glass good, both wingnuts good.
Porthole 2:
glass good, one wingnut good, one wingnut with one ear broken.
Porthole 3:
glass good, 2 wingnuts with one ear broken each.
Porthole 4:
glass broken; one good wingnut; one wingnut missing and dog screw broken, no bulkhead flange as found.
